形態特徵

• Culms 3-7 m tall, 2-5 cm in diam., glaucous when young, becoming green or yellowish green when old; internodes 4-30 cm long, abnormal internodes very short and swollen; nodes prominent, sometimes oblique; walls 4-8 mm thick; branches 2 at each node.
• Sheath of culm deciduous, subcoriaceous, glabrous and sparsely brown-spotted outside, entire; auricles of sheath inconspicuous; ligule of sheath very narrow, ciliate at apex; blade of sheath subulate to lanceolate, entire. Leaves 1-3, sometimes to 7, lanceolate, 6-12 cm long, 1-1.5 cm broad, acuminate, base obtuse or rounded, pubescent along midrib toward base, densely spinulose-scabrous along one margin, sparsely so along other, veins 4-5, veinlets 7-9, tessellate; petiole 2-4 mm long; auricles of leaf conspicuous with tufts of bristles when young; ligule of leaf convex, aristate; sheath of leaf 2.5-3.5 cm long, ciliate along one side.
• Spikelets 1-2 at ends of leafy branch, 1-4-flowered; outer bract coriaceous, oblong-lanceolate, 22 mm long, 5 mm wide, glabrous, margins hairy, with a blade at apex; glumes 2, lanceolate; lemmas similar to glumes, but longer, 19 mm long, 4 mm wide, glabrous, with a stiff awn tip; palea 15 mm long, 3 mm wide, glabrous, bilobed at apex, not keeled; gynoecium 22 mm long; ovary globose, slender, vascular strand absent; style slender, ending in 1-2 feathery stigmas; stamens 3, anthers 9.5 mm long, filaments 24 mm long; lodicules 1-2, 1.8-2 mm long, minutely hairy.
• Fruit linear-lanceolate, 6-8 mm long, 1.5-2 mm in diam., grooved abaxially; style very long, persistent at apex.

分布

• 台灣 : Probably introduced; cultivated in Daikosho, Lienhuachih, Nantou and Alishan, Chiayi since early times; often planted for ornamental purposes in the island.
• 世界 : Native of southern China.
